Although you can begin flight training at any time, the FAA doesn’t recognize you until you register as one. When you apply for your very first medical, you also apply for a student pilot’s certificate. That’s what I’ll be doing on Thursday after school. I am going to visit Dr. Urban, my new AME (Aviation Medical Examiner). I would love to explain the medical process but I’ll leave that to another day, when I fully understand it. Anyway, this Thursday, October 30th, I will officially become a student pilot. Thanks for reading and wish me luck!!!

Here we go. It’s been way too long since I’ve been behind a control yoke. That is all going to change on Saturday, November 1st, 2008. This morning, my father and I drove up to Wilmot, Wisconsin, a 45 minute trip, to visit the Westosha Flying Club.
My father and I will be taking a trip up to Wimont, Wisconsin to visit the Westosha Airport and their flying club. I would like to talk to an instructor about the switching over process and some other questions about their curriculum. I’m really looking forward to visiting and I hope this airport will be considered my home base. That would be nice. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!!!

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation has released a new online flash course on aerodynamics: Essential Aerodynamics: Stalls, Spins and Safety. The course lasts about an hour long and covers basic aerodynamics. I found that it was an extremely good resource for explanations of stalls and spins. Like all of ASF’s online courses, the visuals and multimedia components really make the subject easy to understand. It’s definitely worth taking. If you don’t have a whole hour, you can save your progress and resume at a later time. Thanks for reading!!!
