Hey Evan - not sure if you still check this site or not, and I am not sure if you are the same student that posts on the AOPA board, but that was a great write-up about your flying lessons. Hopefully you have made a lot of progress over the past year. I have been working on my instrument rating at Blue Skies and have been flying out of there for the past 5 years. I'm am guessing you already know they are a good group of people and Mike (the mechanic) is excellent. If you ever want to chat about Blue Skies or flying, drop me a note!!! Good luck with school and good luck with your flying. I started taking lessons my Junior year of high school, but didn't get my PPL until my freshman year of college. I had to work part time to pay for lessons, but I don't regret it ever. Take care,

Terry

I've left the chocks in a couple times and not realized it until start up and try to taxi. So don't feel bad, haha.

Glad you were able to get back up!

Glad to see you were able to get back in the air. With flying only once per month you should work real hard to review what you learned in your past lesson in the days before your next lesson and visualize those procedures to keep them fresh in your mind.

Don't stress out too much trying to PLAN lessons around the weather, just book whatever works for your schedule. Then, when/if the weather stinks on that day, you scrub the flight, no biggie. Many times in my short flight experience already have I booked flights on days where it was supposed to rain, but ended up being a beautiful day.

Good luck!

What have you been doing for weather updates to this point? Just using online sources? I always like to call FSS right before my flight for a last second update and check of NOTAMs and TFRs as well.

Sounds like a great day! I hate when I fly airlines other than United as they are the only airline I know that have ATC coverage. As a pilot I love being in a window seat listening to ATC and sometimes even bring along an IFR chart to watch the waypoints.

Very cool dude. It was one of the coolest experiences I've had on a commercial airliner (especially the take-off out of SIA). Great blog.
